Workshop - Arms Just Want to Have Fun

Does holding your arms up in class, holding the barre or lifting weights give you a neck or upper back ache? Does ‘swan arms’ start to feel like the dance of the Dying Swan by the end? In this pop up workshop you will learn how to let go of the tensions that stop your arms being supported and understand more clearly how the arms and shoulders are arranged for good movement. From there you can start to build strength in every class, rather than uncomfortable tensions. You can expect some movement, learning and time for questions. Wear comfortable, warm clothing!

Date and Time: Sunday January 18 5:15-6:45

Location: Ballet Beats Calgary - Marda Loop (1802 33rd Ave SW)

Investment: $40 plus gst

Teacher: Elizabeth Wakley, assisted by Ines from Ballet Beats

This workshop is a collaboration between Somatic Movement for Life Inc and Ballet Beats

Truth & Reconciliation Virtual Event - Join Us September 28!

We are bringing YOU an opportunity to reflect and learn with our Elder Sylvia Ann Fox through a virtual Talk and Tea. Join Heidi Davis and our Elder and start (or continue) to do your part on the path toward reconciliation.

What: A virtual Talk and Tea with our Elder Sylvia Ann Fox and Heidi Davis
When: Sunday, September 28 from 7-8pm (MST)
Where: Zoom, please sign-up through the schedule on our website - This event is FREE
Why: To honour our Indigenous people and learn from our Elder

Have you been wondering what your part is, in reconciliation? Do you have questions or curiosities about Indigenous culture and history? Do you feel lost in how to process and change your own bias or understanding of Indigenous people and history? Open your heart to the teachings, traditions, and culture of the Blackfoot people. Now is the time we need to walk together and co-create our future.

We will have the great honour of experiencing a traditional smudge ceremony, opportunity to be prayed for, and learn from the wisdom of Sylvia Ann Fox, our Blackfoot elder.

Come and share in story as we walk together. Our elder brings a steady calm, like the mountains to our west. Share a warm cup of tea, and connect with your spirit. This is an open, supportive space for you to join Ballet Beats on the road to reconciliation.

This event is FREE for everyone to attend. Please see below to register.
